Default For some reason, my valve cover looked better before I put it back on the car

probably because everything else is old looking. Since I had no issues starting the car after changing the cam chain tensioner gasket and half-moon seal thingy yesterday, I thought I'd press my luck and install my fuel pressure gauge. No broken engine, no car fire, what a relief. Messing with the cams made me so nervous, I checked the torque on every single bolt 3 times.

Default ....

You had every reason to be careful... the head casting isn't exactly cheap.

Default I almost turned back when I saw the tensioner gasket wasn't leaking, but I did pay $25 for the tool

it would have bothered me if I had backed away from the job. Great logic, huh? Possibly risk a $1000+ head with what could be called unnecessary work because I didn't want to waste the $25 spent on the tensioner tool.

Default my gasket was leaking, but i decided to also change the tensioner out as well.

you know the logic, while you are in there...no way i was removing all the caps and the cam just for a gasket.

the tensioner itself looked new with barely any wear.

now i have two tensioner tools

Default I really only pulled the valve cover because I wanted to see if I had any sludge issues

I plan to go BT later this year, so I need to know if I have other issues to worry about first. I still need to do a compression test.
