Some say yes and others say no???

I've asked several times before and get about a 50-50 split on whether a 235/45/17 tire on a 8" wide wheel will rub at all or not on a stock suspension 2001 A4 1.8T Quattro. Then to make things tougher, how about the same tires on a slightly lowered set-up, say with Eibach/Bilsteins?

no it wont rub, unless its really squashed.

The latter will rub...the prior will not. I have 225/40/R18 Bridgestone S03 PP's on my car

with 18" ET35 wheels and I'm in the same ride height area as the Eibach setup (cept I have Koni Coil Overs) and this will rub if you hit a bump mid corner...just the liner, but it's annoying.
