Default Sorry...one more question about keyless remote for 2001 A4.

Hi again. I appreciate all the replies on my thread from last night.
I wanted to make sure about something (and just got outbid twice on the ebay auction).
The key the guy is selling has three buttons and my key only has two (lock and unlock). Does this mean it won't be compatible?
I'll post a link to the guy's next key auction.
Thanks for any help/suggestions!

it will work but the third button won't do anything since B5 sedans don't have a trunk release

Thanks again, StutteringJ. I looked through the tech section of AW and found the instructions for reprogramming.
I'll get the key (if the snipers will lay off for a bit!) and try to get Ace or Sears Hardware to cut it, then try to program it myself.

I'm a bit nervous that I'll accidentally UN-program the key I have now.....which would really screw things up!

Thanks again,
Andra

Default Thanks!

I'd hate to have to push the thing to the dealer and give them a good laugh!

Yikes....I'm an idiot.
I was thinking that if I disabled the programmed code on the key I have, it'd not allow me to start the engine. I thought I had read that somewhere.....probably misunderstood something somewhere...wouldn't be the first time!
Thanks again, StutterinJ (Can I just type J next time?heh)

Default check the fcc# on you present remote....

this is an older one and may not work on a 2001. if your remote isn't "MZ2 410 819- whatever" this switchblade won't work. where are you i may have one for your car!

Default actually..IRC there is a way to utilize the trunk release button, but you need to install some

extra parts in order for it to work.
