Default SOS - flashing CEL, engine stumbling.

This morning, 25 miles to go on gas tank, 1 mile away from gas station. Turned right into traffic, had to cut it sharp into right lane so rear tire ran over edge of curb, no big deal. At the same time I had to get up to the speed of traffic (45mph) to avoid snobby indignant idiots horn-honking, so I accelerated quickly.

Immediately thereafter the CEL came on and flashed, and the engine began to stumble steadily.

My thinking is that I got some air in the fuel system when I hit the curb, sloshed the fuel, and floored it all at the same time. There must have been a moment when the fuel sloshed away from the intake, so I sucked some air.

I creeped to the gas station and filled it up. When I started it back up it seemed to smooth out, the CEL still on however. After a couple of minutes, I shut it down. Started it back up, same deal, CEL on (not flashing). I drove it the mile back home and the stumbling never went away, the CEL began flashing again.

Am I screwed with this, am I going to have to tow it to the shop, or is something that will take care of itself??

TIA!

Would that be affected by fuel? I think the fuel system is a part of this.

Default it could be a coincidence, or like you said, it drew air into the tank was was leaning out. Best

thing to do, find someone with a vag-com, see if they can pull the codes for you.

It won't be affected by fuel, but it's just one of those things that go wrong too often in our cars.
