spitting and sputtering bad need help
Hello everyone!
I have a 98 A4 Q 6cyl
I noticed that when the fuel tank got to the low end the car would hesitate and miss as you started to excelerate
in the last few days this has started to happen with a 1/2 tank of fuel and the check eng. light is on and sometimes now it cuts out bad and I don't want to drive it
I have a buddy with one of those computers and he put it on and said it was telling him that there was a prob with the injectors or fuel to the injectors
so we think it is a durty fuel filter as this fuel filter is not easy to replace and the car has 128000 on it I have to assume it has never been replaced
does anyone have any seg?

I have a 1.8 and it's doing the same thing. I haven't been able to figure it out yet. I dumped some fuel injector cleaner in it and I'm going to see if that makes a difference. FWIW, when it starts doing that, I shut the car off and restart and it's good again.

I changed it today took alday to get the one screw off the mount as it is in one tight spot then the ne filter is just different enough that it will not fit back in the same spot I got it on and will replace it again when I get the same as the one I took out but this one will work for now
however after all that it did not help my prob
anyone know where the fule pump is located I can find no info on the net one site said it was under the back seat and showed nice photos of where and how to get to it but must have been different yr as mine was not located there.

OK here is the deal....who ever asked me if I could hear the fuel pump

I decied to listen to see if I could hear the fuel pump turn on when I turned the key on ( by the way NO I could not hear it)and when I did I heard a snaping sound...no pump but a snaping sound
so I opened the hood and left the car running and every once in a while I would hear it untill I tracked it down and it was the # 4 cyclnder plug wire arcking to the valve cover once I saw it I played with it and it stoped but when I gave it a litter gas it started again so I pulled it off and shocked the **** out of myself...hahahah
I taped it up and reinstalled and it has no more hesitation or missing........yaaaaaaaaaa I need a plug wire not a Fuel pump

arcing wire
Im not sure what it was but I know this wire is the only one that does not match all the rest in the set and I would guess it has been replaced before
the side of the cap is worn and that is where the arc is coming from
im going to try and replace it today as i just taped it up but im sure it will start to arc through soon
