Splash guards and remote

Hi, I'm new here and just got my new A4 last week. I've been reading around this forum and the Audiworld pages for sometime. Now's the questions:
1)Does anyone using splash guards with their A4? Does it work good? What do you think about the look with them on? I don't really like the look but to protect the car's paint...I just need some opinions.
2) Did anyone reprogrammed their remotes like windows up/sunroof close with remote, 1 touch unlock all doors and auto lock at 15mph, etc. Does the dealers willing to do it for you? I don't have the tools myself.
Thanks.<p>Joe at Seattle

I have the splash guards and they are great, but be careful about scraping them on speed bumps if you do suspension work, I also have the lock at 15mph and like it as well, my dealer will not do the windows up/down from the remote, they say it is a safety issue. They did the reprogram for free at the 10,000 mile service.<p>CaryB, '99 1.8T

My dealer put the splash guards when I bought the car. I have the ones with the Audi rings on the rear guards. You can get them from Clair as well. It might not look as sporty but, I don't want to risk any paint scratches driving over bad rocky roads. Sorry, but I don't have any good pics that show them.
I think it's a good idea to get the doors to auto lock at 15mph. How would you reprogram it? I can probably get the dealer to do it when I come in for service.

Here it is... print and bring with you to dealer if they ask. This doesn't cover the window down-up from remote though... check the <a href="https://www.audiworld.com/faq/faq_elec/a4program.shtml">coding FAQ</a> for that.

Follow the url he gave you for the TSB. Print it out. Find the Programming codes in the FAQ section and find the code # you want. Tell them that you would like to reprogram your code. Then ask them (nicely) if they could change your code to the one you want instead of the one in the TSB. Give them both print outs and highlight which code you want.
That's what I did and it worked fine. I now have the remote windows up/down feature...I love it!

I have the splash guards and it is a love hate relationship.
1) They scrape with steep dips, hard turns(with stock suspension-car not lowered), speed bumps etc.
2) They look dorky.
2) They keep the even dorkier spray from dirtying my black A4 and making me wash it daily like a compulsive automaniac.
I did both the 15MPH auto door lock and the windows up down with remote reprograming. The 15 MPH door lock is a must. It is cool because the car remembers which doors it locked at 15 MPH and automatically unlocks the same doors when you pull the key out. It is free. Check the audi technical service reports.
The windows with the remote is flakey, but worth it. You need to hold the button down for a long time to activate it. If you stop holding the button down it stops closing the sunroof and windows and is hard to get restarted (atleast I've had trouble). It will close all windows and the sunroof, but will only open all windows. Dealers are supposed to charge for this, but mine didn't. He thought it was free like the 15 MPH doorlock. But when he found out it wasn't and I offered to pay he said Just remember to come back to Cutrubus (in Utah) for your service. Now that is service worthy of the Audi name.
