Default Stupid traffic violation! What will this ticket amount to?

I was driving in Baltimore City (I go to JHU) and I accidentally was in the right turn only lane and wanted to go straight. So I go straight where I was supposed to make the right turn, and apparently the cops had set-up shop to watch for the illegal non-turn.

I got smacked with 75 buck ticket. I have my license from New Jersey and wondering if I pay the $75, will the DMV in maryland contact the NJ DMV and then make me acculmate points? Or would I be better off going to court for this charge and trying to aviod the points. If i do that, will I have to pay more than $100 bucks?

the exact ticket said 'failure to obey traffic device' or something. stupid cops in baltimore should be going after the murderers not freakin stupid traffic violations.

Default What, you want the cops to wait for you to murder someone with your dumb driving then fine you?...

obey the law and stop calling cops stupid! you're the stupid one for not turning right, if you're in the right turn lane, DO IT. If you don't, then don't complain about the consequences...man, I'm only 18, and I'm not as immature as some of you cop hating *******s...

Default yes they are all linked, but they are also so extremely inefficient...

that they might NOT find out... I have a ticket in PA and I live in IL and neither my insurance nor the state if IL has ever found out about it... AND IL suspended my license for other moving violations and they STILL never saw the PA ticket...

I would say if you think you can go to court and get out of it, go for it... or atleast get it reduced. I don't know what angle you would take, but you are much better off paying $75 for the ticket and an extra $200 for court supervision or traffic school or SOMETHING than letting your insureance get a hold of it, especially if you are still under 25...

can you claim ignorance being out of state? not local? is it well marked that it is a turn only lane? was there ample space to make the lane change to the straight only lane? did you signal your intent to be in the other lane?

Default That was a little rough but...

I have been nearly hit by people doing that since there is rarely an extra lane on the otherside of the intersection, may be you would have yielded to people who were in the correct lane, but many who do this don't. There are at least two intersection near my house that have about an accident a week due to this type of behavior. I wish the cops would sit there and bust everyone that does it. A lot of times I miss a light because the guy infront of me doesn't want to turn so he sits there through the turn arrow waiting for the general green light.
