Is timing belt easier to do on 1.8 than 2.8? I did my 99.5 2.8 a few months ago and I'm about to do

my parent's 2002 1.8. Think I can get away without taking the bumper and radiator off or is it still really tight in there?

its easier on the 1.8t, might be impossible w/o at least leaning back the front end, really tight.

Default There is absolutely no way to do it without removing the bumper...

I think Kris Hansen said he's done it without removing the lock carrier, but I think he still disconnected it and pulled it out away from the engine a bit.

Default I don't remove it, but I do get it way out of the way....

Like this:

Which gives this kind of access:

All I do is remove the small hose to the expansion tank, and the hood release cable.
Everything else stays connected to the lock carrier. Headlight wiring, headlights, everything.

Default Look at the nice 12V....I do the job the same way, exactly as you have described.

And for the record, I like doing V6 Timing Belts better than 1.8T belts, though I may have said this before.
