Default A trip to the store.

I never thought this would happen to me.

I pulled in a Circle K down the street from my house to get some Diet Coke and some smokes. I hit the unlock button on my remote after walking back to my car. Since I have 16232 programing ALL doors unlocked. Moments later I was car jacked. (dead serious)

A man opened my Pass side door and held a Colt 45 auto to my head. I told him to "take it". I got out.. He slide over and drove off.. That fast. 5 seconds.

First off I do not want to hear remarks about what you would have done. Its easy for you to sit there and say you would have grabbed the gun and beat the guy.. Trust me.. you would have done exactly what I would have done. When a Gun is 6 inches from your head you will do just about anything.. The car is simply not worth my life.

In retrospect I think I did the right thing. I am sitting here typing this post with nothing hurt but my pride.

I used my cell and called 911 right after he drove off. I told my story and gave a description of the car ect... The operator told me to wait there in the parking lot.

15 minutes later she called back on my Cell. The police had recovered the car. There was some sort of standoff but they did arest him. They allso recovered the gun. The Cop told me that it was chambered with the hammer back when he picked it up off the pass seat of my car.

Next came 1.5 hours of police interagation so they could make the report. The Circle K camera got the whole thing on tape. The car seems fine and I have the biggest headache ever.

One reason I decided to post this was about the Alarm coding. I now know why Audi codes the alarm so one click opens only the drivers side door. Then two clicks opens all. I changed mine to 16232 which is one click to open ALL doors. The thought never even crossed my mind as to why this might be dangerous. I fully understand now. If I had the factory programing on my alarm things might have happend differently.. Who knows. Maybe not.. He may have walked around to my side or worse.

Food for thought. I will be changing back the alarm coding to the standard one door system. I feel its safer. If anyone in my area would like there alarm coded back to the original I will do it for you with my vag tool..

Default Re: A trip to the store.

I was just about to go to sleep when I say your post. You are absolutely right - there is nothing more precious than your life and I'm sure anyone here would've done the same thing. You definitely have to pick your battles.

I hope you sleep well tonight. I'm glad they caught the bastard that did this. Don't worry, I'm a firm believer in what goes around comes around. I can't imagine this is his first time ever doing anything like this. People like this always get what's coming to them one way or the other. What a sad situation. I'm a little sensitive about violence right now because a close family member was the victim of gunfire a short while ago.

As far as the 16232 program w/the 1 touch unlock of all four doors, I see where you're coming from about it being a little safer. But think about this.......in a situation like this - you never know what he would've done if he tried to get in and the door was locked. But as I say that, speculation really does no good right now. By all means, if the factory programming gives you peace of mind, definitely go for it. I'm still debating recoding the factory program to what you have right now, but I'll think a little harder about that one in light of what happened tonight.

Clark - Thanks for sharing with us. You know everyone here is relieved and glad you're OK. Sleep well.<p>KC
