turn off auto climate control when starting car?

Hello all,
I looked around but was unable to come with anything in search.
When i turn on the ignition the auto climate control fan/unit turns on even before i crank the car, I understand this is by design but does anyone know how to turn this feature off?

I appreciate your help
(1997 A4 v6 2.8L 12v 5-speed quattro)

Have you checked the coding on the climate control?

On my 96 climate control waits until the car has warmed up somewhat before the fan kicks in.

Before you switch off the car, turn off climate control. Why does this matter anyway?

The climate control is going to operate with the ignition on, car started or not.

That's normal behaviour. He doesn't want the CC to startup at all until the car is running.

Also, as stated below: If the car/ambient temp is cold, the fan will operate on low speed

until the coolant is warmed sufficiently to blow warm air.

exactly.
thanks for your replies. i actually do turn off the climate control always before shutting the car off, but no matter what its on the next time i start the car.

I noticed i get much smoother starts when i have the fan turned off when cranking the ignition. besides i see no need for the climate fan to come on immediatly when the car is cold anyway, doesn't help me really. i would prefer to have to manually turn on the CC when / as needed if at all

I think i have a code list printed out in the car but I generally don't know what i'm reading on it really. I'll have to re-check it

if anyone knows how i can get this done i would appreciate your help
