Underbody repair, need to texture surface prior to painting!!
Can anyone recommend anything that I could use to try & replicate the slightly dimpled surface on the lower underbody on the side of the car near between the jacking points. I had a small dent there that I had to fill in using bondo but of course after sanding I now have a smooth surface next to the original dimpled surface. Any suggestions as to what to use before I prime & paint? Thanks.

How so? Rubberized undercoating is all pretty much the same...
Yeah sure, there are different materials, but the spray stuff is good enough to protect the paint, and match the pattern reasonably well.
FWIW, I am not talking about 'textured paint', I am talkign about the spray cans of rubberized undercoating they sell at better body shops.

I was thinking that the area under the door was textured paint and...
it was rubberized coating on the very bottom. You're right its hard rubber coating the whole way. I must have been thinking of my old Jetta or something.

Pics would be nice!! Thanks.
I managed to find two different can of the rubberized coating, one from Walmart for under $3 and the other from Pep Boys for around $7. $3 sounds like a great deal but too good to be true for anything I'd want to put on my A4. So I guess it's just mask & spray..... no need to even prime or paint black???
