Default Update on my car...Building the BEAST.

Well I haven't been posting much, and wanted to let you guys know what's up! Here are some of the things going into my car. Autronic SMC2 Stand Alone, Built 1.9L (forged pistons, chromoly rods, bored over, lower compression, knife edged crank..), Custom Ball Bearing GT turbo, Custom tubular manifold, Siemens 72lb injectors, N/X intercooler nitrous spray, custom intake with intake box, twin plate clutch, polished the intake manifold & valve cover =), electric fan kit, SPA Tach/Speed, SPA split digital guages, SPA shift light, smart tire, 15 spoke Angstrom wheels and some other tidbits. Cat is now gone, smog pump is gone (thank god), and MAF is gone with the Autronic's. Which means I can run a BOV now. =)

A word on the Autronic Standalone, for those that are looking to go hardcore, this is the way to go (compared to an ECU)! You will lose function of your gauge cluster though. The gauge cluster is being pulled out and the SPA gauges are taking the place of the OEM gauges. The SMC2 also has traction control, to replace the OEM traction control and you will also lose the ABS. Depending on the year of your car, you may or may not be able to use the existing pedals. I am looking into doing a Tilton pedal box, but may just convert over to a drive by cable setup for now since I am an 01'. Now for some pictures, I don't have all the parts yet, but got a few pics of what's in right now. The tach/speed is on the way, along with the turbo and the manifold. The motor is apart, and the block is being sent to a machine shop. JE pistons is the weapon of choice.

We are shooting for about 4 weeks for the car to be done. Then we are off to tune it. For the future I may change over to solid lifters, cams, and build the top end. Roll cage will be going in as soon as break 12's and brakes are on the way too. Will update on progress, and see you at the tracks/roadcourse! Estimated HP: Will post the dyno numbers when I get them. *Hint, the turbo can make 500+hp.

This is what all of your stock wiring looks like in one piece off the car.

Default Why not a full 2.0?

For about an extra $500 or so, you could've got another 0.1L displacement. And it would have been a forged crank, not cast like the stock 1.8 crank.

So is that an SMC or SM2? I was told the SM2 was not compatible with the motronic crank trigger. Hopefully that's changed.

I'm sure you could just get yourself a pedal assembly from a non-DBW car, and you may want to consider a VR6 TB, see my post in the Performance forum.

Default I wanted a bullet proof motor and not mess with the stroke..

I am going for reliability as I plan to run high boost. Keeping the stock stroke, the rod angle will be consistent with stock, and less stress to the rods under load. Besides, why is bigger always better. =)

As for the crank sensor, I don't think it is an issue, but if it is there is always ways around that. =)
