Update on my turbo situation: Rebuilding my turbo...questions inside/rant
T28 turbo from a PES kit.
My turbo has play in it and a seal went leaking oil into the hot side of the housing. When I pulled it apart I found that the shaft was scored.
The exhaust wheel is part of the shaft correct? If a shaft is scored it should be replaced correct?
It seems the price range for a complete rebuild with both new wheels, (don't think I need the compressor, but that is the cheaper wheel so might as well do it) is from $500 --$700.
It seems a center section/cartridge is from $500 and is a bit hard to find.
I have had a hard time finding a regular t28 unless i would want to swap my compressor and exhaust housings over.
For the price of the rebuild it seems like I should be looking at a new turbo.

Yes, yes and most importantly the last question: YES.
You can have a new turbo for that price, or close to it. Not worth messing with. Plus, someone who like to mess around and is a dreamer will but your old turbo for $200+ so get a NEW one.

yea but + an exhaust wheel/ shaft is about 175 and then a compressor wheel is about 100
from them. That is the quote I got. Majestic, and PES who outsource it are in the same ballpark.
