upgrade A4 to S4 in a lease
Hey all...
i have a question.. i leased my 2000 A4 in june and i am really into the S4.. do you think it might be possible to change the lease or something to put me in a 2001 S4 from the same dealer? i mean would it be a real problem or something or can that be done usually without incurring too much penalty?
Thanx

Depends on the bank you leased the car from. I would suggest you talk to your bank, the dealer...
makes more money if you lease an S4 from them after leasing the A4. Therefore, I think the dealer might be willing to help with convincing your leasing company to help out.

ah....houston...you have a problem
Since I work in the financial industry...and have sold two cars that were leased...I think I feel qualified to comment on this. You cannot just transfer a lease from one car to the other easily. I don't think Audi Financial Services allows such things. More likely you have to buy the existing A4 out the the existing lease...usually by selling it to another party...deal with any shortfalls out of your wallet...and then do a brand new lease on the S4. This is what I did on my 97 A4 to my 00 S4.
Good luck.
Good luck.

All I know is this, i wanted to upgrade to an S4, they said it would be no prob....(more)
All they had to do was pay off my lease and start over in a new lease, meaning new lease was a new agreement..... start over from day 1, new downpayment, new S4, you start from the day you first bought your A4, but no its an S4 and its 42 k instead of 24k

Key word is "They'll pay off my lease...". What they really do is, roll over the payments of your
old lease into your new lease and spread it out over the terms of the new lease. So, you'll see a little increase in your monthly lease payment. That's how it is done. I wanted to do this once a long time ago in my other car, and that's what the dealer was going to do. Then I ask him, if you are rolling the payments over to the new lease, and I am infact paying for it, wouldn't it make sense to just keep the existing car and lease the other at the same time? He then said something to the fact we are helping you get out of the lease earlier and putting you into a new car sooner. Yeah right!

Agreed - you have to account for the difference between
the market value of your car and the buyout of the lease. Usually, because you're paying less monthly with a lease, you're upside down in this situation.

Re: upgrade A4 to S4 in a lease
I'm leasing a 2000 BMW 323i right now and I've contacted BMW financial to get out of my lease so I can get an Audi. They said I can turn in the car anytime because the principal remaining on the lease in less than the car's worth.
However, if you're not lucky enough to be in this position they will still take the car back, you just have to pay the difference in the value of the car and the principal remaining on the lease.
