Default V6 - Possible fuel mapping "hole"?

Got a question for you all here... specifically the V6 guys. I've been noticing an issue with the Passat where people with the six are complaining of roughness around 1800 rpm. After doing some research, I suspect that there may be something going on with the fuel mapping. Something may be a tad out of whack that is causing the slight engine roughness. I don't suspect any mechanical issues since it goes away once rpms get past 2200 or so. Any harmonic issues would probably become aparent at the high rpms, and this is not the case.

Considering that the engine is the same between the Passat and the A4, and the ECU programming is also the same (at least for the FWD models), has anyone here with the V6 noticed anything a bit on the crusty side when you are cruising along at 1800rpm or so (yes, I knows its a low speed)? Its almost as if there was a clogged injector, or that the system is not giving a constant amount of fuel.

Sound (or feel) familiar?

Default It does happen to my sister's Passat when I'm cruisin with it at freeway speeds - to move up from

55 to 70 feels like nothing until whooom, around 2200 rpm, the 30V V6 coupled to the tip takes off like a rocket (5th gear of course - without stomping the pedal)

On the contrary, my Gramps' 00 A6Q 30V tip is smooth as silk - and they do have different programming and exhaust- so maybe the 30V A4's have it?

On the other hand, my 12V is as flat and linear as it can be. I which the oomp would happen though, too flat :-) Well, OK, the secondary intake runners open up at 4000rpm, so there is a difference

Default If I short shift and give a lot of throttle...

It falls on its face below about 2200 or so RPMs. In fact it will send a klunk through the driveline under these conditions as it hiccups. However I have not noticed any roughness around 1800 rpm. I have noticed that the idle fluctuates a bit (even with the hvac off). I presume this is because a small amount of air is flowing through a large opening (three valves) so there is less than ideal turbulence and air/fule mixing.
