Default Warranty expires in June----Decision time.

I have a 2000 1.8TQ A4 with 26,700 miles and APR chip. The warranty on the car is up in June. I'm a little unsure as to what I should do.

Are aftermarket extended warranty's worth it, such as a Wynn's? Or do they not cover the things I will need most.

Also, what parts can I expect to need replacing around 30k, 40k, 60k, etc... Are they fairly problem free until really high mileage? I most likely would not have the car past 60k.

I was also considering selling the A4 and going to something newer, like a VW GTI or possibly a slightly used WRX. What are your thoughts on this option?

Any suggestions, experiences, opinions are welcome, thanks.

Default I got an extended warranty with US Warranty Corp. and I've needed it once...

for an ignition module. It's a $100 deductible and covers a number of expensive repairs. It's saved me about $600 already (1 year in) on just a single repair (including car rental). The lower the mileage of the car, the longer the warranty you can get. If you plan on keeping the car for a few more years, you definitely want a warranty (read all the terms first, of course). When you get around 50k to 60k, look to drop some coin on just maintenance. Brakes, timing belt and tensioner, fuel filter, plugs (cheap), and suspension. It's not cheap, but you won't have to worry about the expensive items for another 50k.

Default Suggestions...

First off forget the WRX. It's a "been there done that thing" after you test drive it. If you know anyone who has one, see if you can put it through it's paces and then decide. It's very capable, but the compromise in luxury and style between the WRX and an A4 is too great to actually consider buying the Scooby. I am guessing that you got the A4 for those reasons primarily. But again, if you want to go ***** out and spend tons of cash to aquire fast and delirious status, get the WRX. The GTI is a great car, possibly the better choice here as it retains German build quality, which I believe to be superior in the price range we are talking about here. Plus, I think it's a better looking car. If you are not going to have the car past 60k, you should be okay. These cars can live forever or fail terribly at a moment's notice. I wouldn't worry too much though. Hell, that's the reason to go with your extended warranty.

Default With the low milage that you have...u should have no worries...just get an extended warrenty...

but also consider the age of your car...right now with that low milage your car is worth a good bit of money...u could sell it now before it starts to heavily depreciate...and you could get yourself into a nice new GTi...

It all depends on what car you really want to be in on a daily basis...
