Weak selection of 205/60-15 performance tires
Anybody out there without sport package and oem
15" wheels got some advice about good summer tires.
All I see at tirerack are Bridgestone RE-71's and Pirelli P6000
in that size. I've used the Bridgestones before and they're
definitely good, but I couln't get them to last more than 15,000 miles.
I don't know anything about the Pirelli's.
Also, I'm thinking about creating my own sports setup with the 15" wheels..
(i like the way they look). Anybody whose been there and done that willing
to share some tips and or feedback ??

Hard to find a true summer tire in that size. High Performance all-seasons is your best bet.
The RE71 looks like the only real summer tire. I had them on my MX-6 and liked them a lot, but some people here have said they are noisy, but I never noticed.
The others like the P6000, Comp T/A VR4, XGT H4 are considered all-seasons, but they are still better than the stock Goodyear LS

If you want something radical....
try the BFG g-force R1s. These are available in 205-60-ZR-15 and are "barely street legal" racing tires. I have been using their predecessor, the R1 for several years on a vintage Corvette. They work fine on the street but DON'T GO OUT IN THE RAIN. Here in Socal I use them all year long, just don't drive the 'Vette when it rains.
They have racing compound, definitely won't chunk even at racing speeds. And it's a hoot when people say, "Your tires are all worn out, better get new ones" and you can reply, "No way. They're brand new, just no tread"
I believe you're local. If you're interested, you can see mine. Easy to buy at Tire Rack or direct from BFG.

G-force R1 specs

Have you checked out www.tirerack.com? Decent selection there...
If you want very good performance in the dry and never have to drive in the wet you can run Yokohama A008's. I've known people who have run them as daily drivers in CA summer. They also won't last long but they have tremendous grip.
The only other tire I have experience with that fits your wheels is the Michelin XGT V4's. They are only OK at cornering stick but they last a long time (300 treadwear even though tire rack calls them an ultra performace tire).
Good luck with your decision. You might get better feedback in the wheel forum.
