what do i need to run my laptop audio with my Bose system in the car?...
i was reading the archives and read somoene doin an IPOD install. i figure the plugs are different. so i have an SVID cable and runnin from my lcd screen to my monitor, and the sound part im lost on.. how can i integrate my laptop sound with my in car stereo cost efficiently?

this will probably not work effectively, because
an ipod has no moving parts. A laptop has fans, motors (cd/dvd drive), etc. so you will get a lot of electrical feedback through the system. And, the mini-jack stereo plugs on laptops suck (try plugging it into your home theater system) so the sound quality would be pretty poor, imho.
Maybe someone can prove me wrong...

i second the minijack suckiness on laptops...plug in some headphones and you can hear all sorts of
whining and interference. it's most likely b/c there's too much RF interference between components on the main board due to their extremem proximity. at least on a desktop there's more room to isolate the audio card.

yeah but then you've got another component hanging off and out in the open
Unless you trunk-mounted that sucker, or mounted it glovebox or somewhere. That would be sweet.
I can't vouch for the sound quality of it versus a minijack plug however.
