Default If you both agreed that communications could have been better on both ends

then you have to start with your offer.

What is their labor rate per hour?
@how many hours did it take them to complete the work.

Compare with their 'book estimate of completion' and split the difference.
Ex...
labor = $80 per hour
book labor for all jobs is 11 hours.
actual labor time was more like 7 hours

Offer to pay them for 9 hours of labor at their posted or agreed rate. Hopefully they can agree that there was a miscommunication and realistically they should not charge 7 hours for control arms.

Chalk it up to experience.
Written, agreed estimate before they start the work or else you are at their mercy.

Default Five hour total, which does not account for *any* overlap.

So you should have a maximum of five hours labor plus an alignment.

Also, with the overlap you shold really pay no more than four hours.

Default Ouch...

Hope that you can get them to reduce it, but before you go face to face with them, bring in a few quotes from other places. If they refuse to reduce the hours, then just hit them on BBB.(not that it may do much, but at least their company will have a black mark on them)

It is absolutely neccesary to have a written quote in advance which lays out exactly what work is to be done, any additional work that they may want to do should not be performed without them first contacting you...

In NY it is illegal to perform work without a written estimate. YSMV
