Default When doing a thermostat install, what is the order of parts?

I did the install last week. Car warms right up now. On the highway, the needle stays at 12 o'clock. I noticed yesterday that I had a coolant leak coming from the t-stat. Looks like the gasket didn't seal right. It is coming from between the t-stat housing and the black plastic piece (flange??) thats connected to the hose.
When I installed it, I put the gasket around the flange and the t-stat on top. I then pushed it into place and bolted everything up.
Before I take everything apart again, I just want to make sure I have the correct order of installation of all the parts.
I searched the forums already, but couldn't find the answer I was looking for. This is for a 99.5 1.8T AEB engine.

Default Did you install the t-stat into the housing and then the gasket directly after it?

You didn't put the gasket on the flange?

Default are you sure that is correct? (EDIT)

*edit* now that i reread your post, i think we are saying the same thing

i think i remember the oring going into the groove in the t-stat, which would put it inbetween the water pump and the tstat, with the black pipe bolting over everything.

If you look up the timing belt install under the Tech section, it explains which way to put it in
