Whining noise when accelerating

Whining noise when accelerating
I have an 2.8q auto and I've noticed a high pitched whining noise that I can hear inside and outside of the car only when accelerating, especially at full throttle. It's rpm dependant and doesn't seems to get any louder with speed, pretty consistent only when accelerating. what could this be?

Re: Whining noise when accelerating, meeeeee too!
have had this since i bought the car, not very loud, only happens for me when i change throttle position/speed, small or large increase in speed or decrease, but if throttle position and speed are continuous i get no whine...i listen for it with the stereo off, and it is most noticeable when it is below -5 to -10 celsius, but i have not driven this can in warm temps yet so i dont know if it changes in warm weather

Re: Is your stereo on whilst you're hearing said sound?
No, I turned it off to listen for the noise and it was still there. It's coming from the front end or trans, it's really noticable when listening from the outside.

Re: cracked intake boot
what is the intake boot? is it the elbow from the maf? or a vac line cap of some sort? or the seal around the plastic elbow that connects to the throttle body?
