X-Post: Please help 2.8L Engine Trouble
Ok here is the story so far:
I left my 98 A6 2.8L Quattro sitting in the garage for two weeks back in early June. I got back and soon after driving it the CEL came on but it had been acting strangely before I left for the two weeks but now the CEL was on.
I took it in to my Indy. He got codes 1127, 1129, 1141. Clear indicators of a bad MAF. He changed the MAF. I got the car back and soon after CEL comes back.
Bring it back in he replaces an o-ring that was damaged and causing a leak. Codes cleared. Take car soon after CEL comes back...
I bring it back in. He tests the MAF that replaced the old one and it comes up bad. So now it appears that it was just unlucky and we got sent a bad MAF. He replaces it with a new one codes cleared. I took final delivery of the car near the end of june.
August 19th,2005, I install a cat-back exhaust system from just before the central resinator back. Now August 23rd, 2005. CEL comes back bring it in next day same codes as before 1141, 1127, 1129. Replaces MAF again! Not after driving 15 miles in the car CEL comes back.
I am seriosuly considering selling the car at this point because the problem seems irrepairable. Can someone please give me some sort of indication or idea on where to go from here?
