04. A4 quattro damaged transmission pan repair
I have an 04 a4 that I just bought, the previous owner had smacked the tranny pan on a curb or something and put a hole in it, I bought the kit on blau parts that came with 6 bottles of fluid, i went thru the whole procedure and put the six bottles in with no stream of fluid to tell me its full. So I ordered two more bottles and with just barely any left in the 8th bottle I got the stream. After test driving the transmission was shifting hard and kind of jumpy so I put it back on the stands got it to temp and pulled the plug, no stream of fluid. Could it really need more? If anyone can help please let me know

I just did a drain, filter and fill yesterday and it took 5 1/2 quarts although I made such a mess could've spilled a half a quart lol. If it had a hole in the pan though it's going to pump alot more out than what the pan holds probably near the point of empty if it wasn't shut down right away. At this point I'd say get more fluid, and def follow the correct procedure for the fill, I used a document direct from ZF with a great step by step, and you'll need vagcom or a good scanner that can get into the tranny module to monitor trans temp as the level has to be set when the trans temp is 30 - 35c.

It could still be full, but just barely so the fluid doesn't run out. Also, if the car's level is even just a little nose-down compared to when first filled, the ATF level will be lower at the fill port. Hopefully the previous owner didn't run the car until the trans was damaged.
