1.8T Whistling Noise???
Drove around for the first time w/o the radio on and I hear a slight whistling noise as the rpm's rise...could be the turbo spooling, but is this normal for a stock 1.8T? I have never heard this noise before! Sounds a little metallic....

It is turbo... I never use my A/C and i always hear the same sound.
It's not metallic though, just sounds like a whine or a whistle.
When you floor it you can hear it the most at low rpms.

I hear something also, the harder I am accelerating the more I notice it.
No one on the board was ever able to help me identify it, I'm not sure if it's normal or not. I've gotten used to it now. I've been meaning to go test drive another off the dealer lot and see if I notice the same thing.
Check my old post below to see if anything rings a bell for you. I'd be curious to know.

https://forums.audiworld.com/a4gen2/msgs/61427.phtml</a

Re: 1.8T Whistling Noise???
Ok, if it's whistling, it's probably turbo whirl. If it's more metallic sounding, like a light rattle, that's something loose. I had a problem with that on my 1.8T between like between 1500-2000rpm on acceleration. Turned out to be something loose. Covered under warranty and the dealer replaced something...can't remember what it was.

I heard it for the first time too
Windows down, no radio, in a quiet parking lot.
Stomped on the gas and heard (i think) the turbo spool up. Repeated (several!) times.
Very well insulated (acoustically) to the cabin - any road noise, radio or closed window seems to damped it completely.
