A4 to Japanese?

A4 to Japanese?
Today I looked at the Accord V6 with everything in it...comfortable , fast and it still looks like a Honda and that's as far as it goes...it just doesn't get me goin'..On the other hand, I drove a new RX-8. As a previous RX-7 owner for 12 years, I loved that thing. This one is 10 times better even without heated , electric leather seats. That's all that it didn't have that my A4 has except the Quattro. I drove it 12 years with all seasons and didn't get stuck in snow but one time. It's a stick with aggressive snow tires and traction control...I'll take my chances with winter shoes and a six speed to get that sports car again. WOW, what a ride that thing is. Not as elegant as my A4 but a lot more fun to drive.Oh , I forgot...a lot cheaper to run and will probably be cheaper to fix after the warranty expires in 4 years. I had 125,000 on my '87 and it ran great.

Hehe, I agree Japanese cars are durable...
my first car was a 90 Suzuki Sidekick. I flipped the odometer and although the body was rusting and stuff from the ocean air back home, the engine still ran like a champ.
Not sure I agree about the price of maintenance on newer imports. I had an 03 MDX and oil change cost somthing like 60-80 dollars at the dealer.

RX-8 is a great car
it most definitely will handle better than the A4. so long as you're willing to give up the amenities of the Audi and German design, it should be a fun car to own.

Re: I've never driven / been in an RX-8... they're fun to drive?
It's kind of like driving a very comfortable go Kart with a jet plane feel to it...You sit low, the throw on the stick is very short...Smooth shifting , and the engine can wind past 8000 and never falters....It's really like a cockpit feeling. I once drove in a Ferarri and although it doesn't have the heaviness it feels like that same feeling, less ferocious though. There is virtually no vibration in the shift lever when it idles. It sticks to the road like a quattro but I doubt that it will do that in the snow. I plan to get a 16" snow setup and put them on and off each season as I did with my TT. I know it will never equal a TT in "Status" but i'm hoping it will make up for that part in fun....The TT was sadly just too small and now too expensive.

I own both. Both are great cars, but the RX-8 is a true sports car.
No, it's not the fastest car out there, but the overall driving experience is fantastic. Mine is a 6spd '04. Zero problems in 22k miles. Gas mileage could be better; I avg. about 18 mpg in mixed driving. The stability control is a must, esp. in winter. I live in Minnesota and drive my RX-8 year round, switching to 17" wheels with snow tires.
The A4 is a wonderful car, too. In fact, we just took delivery of our '07 2.T S-Line Avant ten days ago. It's our third new A4.
As stated, both are exceptional cars and are at the top of their respective "categories". I feel very fortunate to own both.
