A4 timing belt break
Yesterday my timing belt tore while driving. It began to make a strange noise, then rolled to a stop and turned off. I pulled the upper timing belt cover and saw that the belt hadn't completely broke. It had tore long ways, and half the belt was still attached to the camshaft sprocket and was still tight. Is it possible that engine stayed properly timed if the belt didn't break completely? Or does the way it broke matter at all?
Its at the shop now but i have to wait until Monday to find out for sure. Just anxious to find out sooner if there is any hope that my valves aren't gone.

It sounds possible that you may not have damaged the valvetrain if the belt didn't completely break, but I would say unlikely since the engine shut itself off. Hope you took to a reputable shop for the diagnosis.
