So, yeah, I'm mulling over getting Revo's softare through E-code. I noticed their site mentions that for those living in the San Diego (among other counties), they come out to you to do the reflash.

Does anyone have experiences with this, positive/negative?

my car. David met me at the Irvine Spectrum (50 miles from Carlsbad) and flashed the ECU at the Dave and Buster's parking lot. Takes like 20 minutes. He'll even hook me up with some VAG Mods (windows/autolock) maybe even rid your car of the evil seat belt dinger. Get the SPS3 if you like to tinker (or if have future mods planned like the K04 or Eliminator GT28).
Get the SPS1 if you want to set it and forget it.
