On Audi's web site the ULTRA SPORT PACK tires are 225/40R18. Why not 235?

On Audi's web site the ULTRA SPORT PACK tires are 225/40R18. Why not 235?

OEMs are always conservitive when it comes to tire fitment.

The sport pack rims are 235/45R17. Why would they drop width when going to a 18" rim?

Default probably to closer match up the circumference to the 235/45 17's
then they don't want to have to recalibrate the speedo

235 is closer at .3 off vs .9 for the 225. So they should have used 235s.

235/35 18 would be closest but have a very thin sidewall and could result in a lot of rim damage

Default Well this is what I get when I do not read the message....
you are right, they should be at least 235/40/18 not 225/40/18 cuz that is dropping a size.

er... we are talking about 235/40R18 vs 225/40R18 which the 225 has a thinner sidewall
