Bose Stereo System - Do you recommend that option or do you recommend an after market for similar $$

your call really-
I elected no cuz I dont particularly like the "coloring" bose systems have - too soft personally so I intend to swap it out- obviously doesnt make sense to upgrade if im gonna rip on it anyways-
But
for those "normal" people who arent mod freaks like us and who just listen to music to pass time in the car then the bose is (1) adeuqate (2) but does sound "better" with the upgrade - im still not convinced its worth it but just let your listening habits and wallet make the choice

Re: Bose Stereo System
Aftermarket system with 600 dollars will blow away the BOSE upgrade, no doubt about it. The only thing you have to worry about is the ripping apart your car to install it. Also, if you go the custom route, make sure to have an experienced professional installer do the work, it makes all the difference.

Are you a Bose fan? Any Bose @ home? If so
then go with the Bose b/c you'll be perfectly happy with it. Otherwise, save the $600 and go aftermarket as for those that want to best possible sound, neither option will make you happy.

Re: Bose Stereo System
Is there any brand/system that fits nicely in the A4? Do you recommend any specific type/brand of speakers?
Thanks a lot for your response, I'm trying to figure things out before I deal with the dealer.

Re: Bose Stereo System
There are a lot of good brands out there, it all depends how much you intend to spend on speakers. You're gonna need two 6.5" component sets for the doors. I really like Focals, had them in my old car and they were awesome when you put around 100-150 W to each speaker. I would look for 2 165K(not sure about the model), which are around 200-250/set. Then look for a decent 4-channel 4-500 W amp to power them. I would imagine everything installed would be under a 1000 for a system that will sound amazing. That's just my recommendation though, you can get cheaper components for less.

Bose gives better music clarity than the base system. But, you could probably do better with an ...
after market system ... Both in price and in performance.
Do your research first though.
My problem is, if I decide to go with after market, I never quite get around to it. So ... I just go for the Audi provided Bose system. It's good.
