Default Boy, did this put a smile on my face...

For the last 3 weeks, the temperature here in NJ hasn't risen above the freezing point and there's lots of snow and ice all over the place...perfect quattro weather. So yesterday I'm at this gas station and from the corner of the parking lot I hear this awful spinning, high revving engine noise. Well, to my delight, I looked over and saw a brand new 5 series struggling for traction. He spun and spun and wacked one of the curbs and finally bounced off it to some drier ground...I almost bought that car, and with the winter we've had this winter, I'm glad I went with the A4 Quattro!!!

same happend with me in NJ, when an Acura TL-S kept spinning its wheels on a something less than a beginners slope.

i went next to him, braked and then went off smiling... and he was still struggling. he finally put it in reverse and went into another street.

it made me feel good with the decision i made with the quattro.

I also considered buying the 530i before deciding on the A4. In the defense of the 5-series, it is a well balanced car and shod with snow tires it will surely out-corner and out-brake an A4 Quattro with all-season tires. I can just about guaranty you that the "5" you saw was wearing all-season tires, something I'd never recommend on that platform for Winter use. I even hesitate to suggest it's a good idea for a Quattro-equipped car.

"it will surely out-corner and out-brake an A4 Quattro with all-season tires..."--perhaps, but if you can't get out of the icy parking lot...

Default Well, I think a Honda with snow tires would out brake and out corner an A4

if it only had all seasons and the conditions were right.
