Did anyone get new control arms?
My car pools gently to the left and vibrates at speeds over 80mph. The dealer insists that I don't need an alignment eventhough I alreadu over 40k miles on the car. After discussing this with Audi of Ameirca I was told that perhaps I need new control arms (to be determined during my next service visit). In my opinion all that the car needs is an alignment but I will have them check the control arms as they are susceptible to bending (as per Audi of America). However, if it is determined that they need to be replaced, and the tech decides that they were damaged by a pot hole, I would have to pay out of pocket. In my opinion, if the suspension suffered an impact of such magnitude that caused the arms to bend there would certainly be damage to the rim (especially given the low profile tires that the sport wheels come equiped with). Has anyone had this happen to them? Any thoughts? Thanks.

I would have a good wheel shop check to see if you've dinged a left side wheel...
on the inner lip or lost a wheel weight. Drifting off line is not a true indication of an alignment problem. Your car would feel squirrelly and either over or understeer. Bad alignment wouldn't cause a vibration either.

I had a sway bar link bend from an impact with no damage to my 17" wheel.
It's possible...but you'd definately know it. When I hit the storm drain hole that bent my end link it felt like the whole car was going to come apart.
