Anyone use an aftermarket diverter valve on a 2002 a4 1.8t?? Are they any good or is it just hype. I hear they can help lag issues?

Is a diverter valve the same as a blow-off valve?

i don't believe it is. from what i have gathered here is a diverter valve and a bypass valve are the same. blow-off valve is the one that makes a flushing type sound everytime you change gears. believe this decreases boost in our cars.

i could be very off just going off mem. and that is not all that good sometimes...

No, not technically. A blow-off valve sends the "boosted" air into the atmosphere rather than the airbox/air filter. This is why they usually make a loud noise from the air releasing. This offers no real performance gain and in most all cases will cause sophisticated engine management systems, like in the VW or Audi cars, to incur errors and drivability issues.

If you're chipped it will give you better throttle response thats all.
