Do new turbos spool a lot louder?
I just picked up a different loaner car. This new one is an 05 with only 3321 miles. The turbo is so loud, it sounds like a k04 at 22PSI. I mean, this car's turbo sounds louder than my car with REVO. Is it normal for new turbos to spool very loudly?

Oh course you'd lose power. The test pipe is MUCH less (if at all) restrictive.
More power...Hmm, you've got a nice Stage III set up. I hope you have injectors (they're not included in your sig). Switching to a thermal race and SPP FMIC will give you some extra power.
Dahlback intake manifold, a carbonio intake, upgrade oil cooler, and a K04-23(k04.82) will maximize your set up.

well
The Race cat will be more restrictive than your test pipe and it still has material inside to "conform" the air flow, so it definitely should be quieter.
About your exhaust and FMIC, I was implying that there are better products than what you're currently using

How would a SPP FMIC give you more power over Ecode's FMIC?
I'm not saying it isn't possible but there's been no dyno comparison. Ecode uses a Spearco core, and plenty of cars have made mad power on the dyno with it. I've yet to see anyone with the SPP FMIC dyno their car, in fact I'm not sure who's running the IC yet. It does look like a great core and I have no doubt that it will perform very well. Also APR's exhaust is hardly small. I'd say his current setup is pretty good. To get more power he'd have to upgrade to a real Stage 3, this means a bigger turbo.
A hi flow Cat is more restrictive yes but it's hardly quiet, it will be only slightly quieter than the testpipe. My Milltek Hi Flow Cat was just as loud as my testpipe. Just my thoughts Bro, no drama here. : )
Sorry to hear about your car's issues, hope you can get that figured out Jared, that's a bummer. Good luck!

No drama
I just figured that baler is trying to maximize his set up, marginal differences like the SPP FMIC and a Thermal exhaust would certainly do nothing but help.
BTW, my tech is still waiting on AOA to call back with some concrete information. I should have some sort of real diagnoses and hopefully solution. I will do my best to keep everyone updated.
