Default does having a better i/c give you better, the same, or worse gas mileage?

wouldn't it give you worse gas mileage because the air is cooler which means it is more compact so to keep the air/fuel mixture constant, it would have to add more fuel?

sorry for the dumb question... trying to learn more about cars

Default For equal power output, it will be the same. ...more...

Because the charge air is denser, for the same power output, it will take the same amount of fuel on a mass basis. The throttle position will be less open for the same mass air flow and the peak cylender and exhaust temps will be cooler.
