The 1.8t cars available where I live are basically Euro spec. Honestly, I haven't worked out what is the difference exactly that gives the US cars an extra 22kw. It doesn't seem to be just the chip tuning.

Anyway, it seems that available options for chip upgrade are limited since many tuners do not import American chips (believing that they are tuned for US spec cars). The only exception I have come across is GIAC. In addition to GIAC, Oettinger and Wetterauer are the others that I have managed to source in Australia. If you have any experience with any of these chips or have heard any substantial comments on them, would you mind sharing it with me? BTW, GIAC and Wett. will cost the same whereas Oett. will cost twice as much.

Thanks.

Default Ive heard good things about ABT, my personal choice is APR, www.goapr.com, (more)

You mail them your ECU so I dont see it being a problem, other than having to drive the Chevroleggs for a couple days

Good to see a fellow aussie in this forum!!

Have you considered powerchip.com.au ? I know they have a chip for the 2002 1.8T quattro but are still working on the CVT version.
