Awhile back, the piece holding the door closed to my emergency triangle in the trunk lid that attaches to the **** you see and probably have rarely if ever used broke (the part number is 4B98678994PK - they call it an escutcheon). The **** was fine, squeezed hard with a pair of needle nosed pliers on the tab on the back which goes through the escutcheon, and the two parts separated. The list price on that part is $26.12 (8/2015) and with the **** is $21.08! The whole emergency compartment assembly is like $300! Crazy. Anyway, in doing my research on alternatives (other than a zip tie, which works, too), I found this on Audizine:
Search Thingiverse - Thingiverse
It's a link to a 3D printer file and sure enough, works like a charm! A friend of mine printed it for me and it's probably better than the original part. If you have access to a 3D printer, this will solve the compartment opening every time you open the trunk!
Just wanted to share the wealth.
