Engine oil switch seems backward
I just picked up my new A4 3.0 on Friday and was very suprised to hear that it starts with synthetic and then they switch over to crude at the first service! This seems contrary to everything I've ever heard. Does anyone understand the rational? Thanks

You got it backward ...
... New Audi's come with 0W-30 dino oil (crude, non-synthetic, whatever you want to call it) installed from factory. A lot of people here presumed it was synthetic because the only 0W-30 you can buy in the states is synthetic. However, 0W-30 dino oil is available in Germany, and that's what the car comes with.

Synthetic Here...
Ask the service person last night and he said that the car came with Mobil 1 5W30 Synthetic oil. Go figure.
With all the talk of synthetic oil not allowing the car to breakin, now I don't know what to think. *sigh*
