Engine Speed Sensor - Error code not clearing after replacement
Hi, I have a Audi A4 2002 model with a manual transmission and 2 Litre petrol engine. I am getting the following error message:
16706 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28) No signal
P0322 - 004 - No Signal/Communications – Intermittent
So as advised in previous posts, I replaced the Engine Speed Senor, however, the error message initially disappeared and then came back later. Thinking it was a fault with the replacement speed sensor I replaced it again however, the error code is not disappearing.
Due to the error code sometimes the car doesn’t start up first time around and I need to keep the ignition key turned on to get it started and then the EPC light comes on. If I turn off the engine and restart it all is fine.
Can some please advise what could be wrong? Any suggestions on what I could do to resolve the problems. Is the car safe to drive like this? All suggestions would be really appreciated.

Nothing fancy, just follow the harness from the sensorto the ECU and look for breaks, corrosion, sign of burning / shorting, etc. You could also put a voltmeter to it although I have no idea what the voltage should be.
