exactly on my plate...last time I did my plugs I noticed some leakage at #6 VC...good time to do it

Default True. But if the problem is a cam tensioner bolt related issue couldn't it be

avoided through some preventative maintenance if when one is having a TB job performed they have those bolts replaced? That was my thinking.

more like 80K.

Default The distinction between the TB tensioner parts, external items, and the ...

hydraulic camshaft timing adjuster parts, internal items, must be made. AFAIK, the failure reported in this thread, and MB's 3.0 failure, are with the internal cam timing adjuster parts, not the external TB tension adjuster parts.

The bolt that failed in this report, is not associated with the TB tensioner, so would not be part of the TB replacment work. Replacing the cam timing adjuster bolt, would be a seperate job.
