I'm interested in getting a euro plate for the front of my car. Does anyone know what the laws are regarding having euro plates? I live in California.

Does Cali law require a front licence plate? If not, there shouldn't be a problem.

Cali law requires that you have a front license plate (the real/registered plate)

I've driven in California for 16 years without a front plate, no problem and that is not legal

It's likely you'll get a fix-it ticket for the missing/wrong front plate if you get stopped for something else. I doubt you'll be bothered otherwise. One other problem: If you live where red light cameras are used, the locals might be much more likely to get you and the fine might be pretty steep.

My girlfriend has lived in California for about 6 years now and she didn't have a front license plate either. No problems with the police even after she was pulled over by a CHP. Then, just recently they installed a red light camera near our house and she got pulled over by a police officer for no other reason than not having that front license plate. Red light cameras suck!
