EVAP system problem

EVAP system problem
2000 1.8T quattro APR chip
I have had a long running problem with the car not starting immediately after filling with gas. I thought I had located the problem when I found a crack in one of the vacuum line one-way valves. I replaced the valve but to no avail.
Engine threw CEL and codes showed both intermittent rich and lean conditions pointing to N80 (EVAP purge valve problem). Internal resistance of valve within specs. Ran diagnostic output sequence with VAGcom and all valves in the system actuate (N80, N122, N75, N249, N30-33, but shows short to ground (somewhere). Any suggestions as to where to look for the short?

I've had the same problem..
car is tough to start immediately after filling up with gas. after the first start, everything's fine until i fill up again. i bought my 2002 used in november and got the CEL shortly afterwards.. here's my original post on it with info on codes etc:
hard starting after gassing up plus a MIL and emissions/O2 faults
i've done some other research on it since and have only found two similar cases (aside from yours): the 99 passat mentioned in my original post, and a 99 beetle. in the passat's case, his carbon canister was faulty due to excessive "topping off" when filling up. in the beetle's case, it turned out to be his N80 solenoid valve. here's the thread on the beetle at vwvortex.com: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1800256&page=1
i have yet to solve this problem, but i haven't explored the carbon canister or n80 possibilities on my car.
hope this info helps.. let me know if you find out anything else; this has been driving me nuts.

Re: I've had the same problem..
Thanks, if you have a vagcom, run output tests on 01. It will check out all the system and actuate the valves individually. My problem seems to be electrical.
