Extended warrenty question
1 year left on 2002 A4 1.8T, 30K miles down. I was quoted $2500 for 3 years/100K (I think!), first year is AUDI warrenty anyway. Company is 'Extracare' which Clair uses.
What do you think?
Any other options?

I'm thinking of getting an extended warranty from Clair too...haven't had a chance to ask...
so your car now has 30k miles on it, yes? They'd be extending the warranty 3 years or up to 100k I believe is what they're saying...I guess the pricing isn't too bad. what does it cover though? normal wear and tear on drivetrain, engine, etc?
I'm not too sure on warranty pricing, a few others here have though. They'd be more help to you than I would =P

get the platinum level for sure.
if possible compare with the warrantydirect folks.
Most warranties are MECHANICAL FAILURE not WEAR N TEAR.
WEAR N TEAR will cover say worn lifters, rings, transmission parts.
Mechanical failure only covers failure of a part.
Platinum usually covers timing belt, and any damage subsequently caused. The lower levels won't.

Hi,
The extended warrenty does not cover regular maintenance work, tires etc, so the regular maintenance trips would cost. I had a choice of adding 2, 3 or 4 years. I am 3 years down currently. Yes it has 30K on it now. Incidentally the price up to 75K was only $100 cheaper than 100K, with same time!

Get a quote from Warranty Direct
Very reputable company. You can probably get an extra year for the same price. It also starts when you purhase the warranty, not the car's in-service date, which many do.<ul><li><a href="http://www.warrantydirect.com">http://www.warrantydirect.com</a</li></ul>
