Default First run with new program

I have finished installing a FMIC on my 2003 A4, The new program is on the ecu, and new injectors are installed. I took the car out, warmed it up slowly for a couple of miles then did a couple of 2nd gear accelerations to make sure the hoses were tight. The first run was not full throttle, the second was close to full throttle, the car started to run ragged and chug under load. It even chugged away from a stop in 1st gear. The only thing I've noticed is that the catalytic converter is glowing. The car has 20,000 miles on it and in excellent mechanical shape. I have not installed any other performance parts on the car. Does anyone know what may be wrong? I will be contacting the proper people on Tuesday, but I want to gather as much information as possible.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom

I will not name the program, hopefully they will have a solution come tuesday and I don't want to bad mouth them. I don't think this is a case of saying " of course it failed, it's from [blank]". Others have written that they are happy with this companies products. As I stated, the injectors (tt injectors) and ecu are made to work together,(I also received NGK BKUR6ET-10 plugs) the only other mod is the front mounted intercooler, that's it. Knowing that any program is going to increase boost are there any stock components that may not function correctly?

Do all aftermarket ecu/plugs/injector combinations require a different diverter valve? Would a blown diverter valve cause a rich condition? The coils look properly installed (I'v checked, rechecked, and checked again) but could this most likely be an ignition problem?

Thanks,
Tom

Give it some time for the ECU to adapt

Default couple things

if you are running APR/GIAC/MTM there is a little bit of adjustment time (adaptation) on the software. It should get stronger over the next couple days.

I 'beleive' REVO is the same way although i do not haev personal experince with REVO.

Any of these four mentioned are excellent tuners and i don't think you will have any problems with them. But if the car doesn't sound right the software could have failed on install. It is possible even with the best tuners. Can you explain the feel/sound you are getting in a little more detail?

Double check the plug models because i don't remember which model is the right one. I am assuming you are going 1 step colder?

Also when the diverter fails it sounds like a honking duck. It is very noticible. If you have upgraded programing and injectors i would probably put in a new rebuildable DV. Forge, Baily, Hyperboost all make great products and they are all about the same price.

Usually if the coilpacks are a problem you will get a c/e light and it will show sometype of missfire as a code. Or if the coilpak fails completely the car will run like ****, ie: really rough.

Thanks for the information. I certianly hope that all it is the the program adjusting. I am still worried about the converter glowing after a couple of miles but I have never looked at it before. The spark plugs came with the ecu and injectors. The check engine light has not come on so I guess the coils are ok (I haven't investing in the vag-com program yet).

Ok, The first time I accelated (not full throttle) the engine pulled strong and everything felt fine. After that any load on the engine caused the car to accelerate slowly and there was an approximately 2 cycle a second surging/ bucking effect. One other thing I noticed is that when I would lift off the gas, after about a second there was a small whistle noise. I am currently looking for leaks in the system.

Thanks,
Tom
