Default Forged Pistons needed (after ABT tuning work done)

A friend of mine is looking for forged pistons for his VW Passat 1.8T. He has to replace the OE ones as they broke after some 240HP tuning done in ABT Germany.

Do you know a company that makes them ?

Default odd ... BillyT is running over 300whp on pump gas

Take a look at the system (fueling etc) to make sure all is normal

the stock pistons can handle way more than 240hp, there was probably some detonation involved

So much for 'Abt' tuning eh? I know a few 270+hp 1.8T's with stock internals..no problems.

Default It doesn't matter how much hp you've got but how much fuel you can provide.

There must have been some fueling problems in his car, as there where holes in his pistons.

to a point ... fueling or timing might have been at fault (or both, among many other things)

Default Did he have the conversion done at Abt or by someone else ? Could be missing part.

There is a pressure regulator that must be replaced when going to higher output. Except for part numbers, the item looks almost the same.

Here in the US, I know of approx 40 K04 kits in use in cars with up to 70,000 miles. Only one has had problems when the owner took the pressure regulator out ( for some reason ) and replaced it with stock.

I know of few Abt 285hp stock internal cars. No problems either. Sounds like fueling issue.

Default It was done by ABT in Germany. Nothing was changed or altered...

He has made 75.000km with this kit. The kit was installed when the car was new.
