Default Front axle CV question

Have a 2004 A4 3.0 6 manual quattro with a bad inner and outer is going so want to just replace with a new Lobro shaft. From a few videos I saw you do not need to mess with the steering or control arms just the 6 bolts on the tranny and the 1 on the wheel holding the axle on. This true?? Looks too easy which my luck Ill start the job and run into issues

I replaced the front axles on my 2002 A4 3.0 MT a couple years ago. I was able to get the driver side axle out without messing with the control arms but on the passenger side I had to disconnect the lower control arms to get the axle out. I think the starter is on the passenger side so there was not as much clearance as on the driver side.

Note: the 6 bolts on the tranny require the special triple square socket.

Also, you should replace the axle bolt.
