Default GIAC Chip

Just had the GIAC chip installed in my ECU by AWE w/ a Forge bypass. Awesome! It is much faster than a 3.0 now! MUCH! I wish I could get the 6 speed. W/ 270 lbs/torque the single turbo now feels more like an S4. (not quite, though) I Highly recommend this product.

Default Just so ya know...

GIAC detuned the original software that was making 270 lbs-ft of torque... The current chip doesn't make that much torque.

Glad you like the chip... keep us posted =)

No kidding? AWE still lists 203lbs at wheels on mustang Dyno. 203 x 1.32=268. It feels fast.

I was thinking about superleggera wheels. They look great. I was just saying faster than a stock 3.0 for 400 bucks. I wouldn't want to see the price tag for your mods!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know hp scams. It is faster though

Don't know much about chips. Does it alter the ride quality? I've noticed my new 1.8T has a rough feel to it, i.e. the engine is not smooth. I'm not sure if it is because I'm still breaking it in (only 450mi) or it's the nature of the 4 cylinders. Will the chip improve the "smoothnes" of the engine.

Also, has anyone compared the 1.8 vs the 3.0. Obviously, the 3.0 has more power, but is it really that much smoother, to a point that a not so critically driver, i.e. my wife, would notice. Just wondering if I should've paid the bucks for the 3.0 instead. Thanks

What was the cost at AWE? How was the service? Thinking of taking a road trip...

Default You need to break it in......

My car loosened up at around 4K. Plus at 4K, I participated in a high performance driving event with my club. The engine really loosened after that! Do a search there is lot of good advice on breaking procedures.

The 1.8T engine is very smooth but it is not as smooth as my prior A4 2.8.
