Did you lower grilles on the sides come like that from Oettinger or did you add the black pipeing.

The bluer look may just be the digital camera. It has a slight blue cast to it sometimes.
Personally; these Blue Vision City Lights are not very intense during day light (bright sun). Not like DRL's. But at dusk and when it is cloudy, they look cool. I noticed that too once it was installed because it was different then pictures I had seen of the kit. It's rather cheapish in a way, especially the grill mesh itself. One flying object and.....broken.

I may decide on some custom fabrication w/ another material. I think Oettinger could have done a better job with the mesh material/fit. At least something stronger.
