Default s4....

merc in my opinion is the worst german car brand on the market. Loads of issue/problems. this opinion is definetly biased being that i work at an audi dealer and own 2 audis. Not saying that it is impossible to encounter any issues with the s4 but definetly much more reliable than the merc.

Default what year is it? Earlier w203s ('01+ C-Classes) had issues...

I believe the C32 came out in '02 which had issues...but most were corrected in '03. Later MB models, such as late '03, '04 and '05 have much much fewer problems. Mid 90's till 2002-2003 have had lots of issues, unfortunately.

Has his car had any issues? Some people have trouble free MB's and some others have troubled ones. I love both MB's and Audi's...so I'm not one sided here. Having driven both, each has it's con's and pro's. Audi's alike have issues too early on but were corrected later on, as MB has too.

What options does he have on it and such? If it hasn't had issues, in good condition, options you want, I'd say go for it.

Good luck!

Default here are some pics(not of his car..his stuff is being moved) some pics from ebay of similar

Car is fully loaded except for COMMAND navigation and vented seats. Car is an 03.I had my local Benz dealer pull up an warranty work done and the only thing replaced was a battery (faulty cell) and brake pads & rotor (AMG rotors & pads are special order according to the dealer). Other than those 2 the car is in perfect shape. I still haven't driven the car, we just spoke about it.

Would a car with a supercharger (C32) and a normally aspirated engine (S4)have a difference in power delivery?

The S4 I want is at a local dealership (car was owned by the owner, 68 year old). There is no CPO warranty. Dealership said they can add it for $4K.

I really appreciate your help. Right now I drive a A4 3.0 CVT. I don't trust the CVT much and I am looking on selling it before warranty is up.

Personal opinions would be appreciated.

Default If that's all that has been done, then i'd say it's in pretty good shape. AMG parts are

expensive & usually have to be ordered when parts need to be replaced. I'm not quite sure on the S and how that works to be, maybe the same.

Did he put those V8 Kompressor badges on? =P

With the V8 in the S4, you get the V8 grunt and the heavier weight. Don't underestimate the 3.2L Supercharged V6 tho. 349HP and 332Torque.

The MB would still be under factory warranty which would take you to '07. You could do the same with the MB and go to a dealer and see if they will certify or do something similar to a CPO warranty after the factory warranty is over.

Is the S4 a manual gearbox? As you know the C32 only comes with an Automatic with AMG Speedshift Programming (shifts up to 35% quicker than a regular autobox and downshifts with the same quickness, depending on the situation)...of course, there's the touch-shift as well.

The S4 will probably be a bit more of a stiffer ride than the C32. But that's up to one to judge.

Space wise, the C32 has a little more leg room in the rear than the S4...as well all know, the A4/S4 lacks in the rear legroom dept.

As for power delivery, I have not sat/drove in a S4 before, but I have with a C32. Power is pretty much on-tap. Endless torque up till redline. It really pushes you into the back of the seat. As with a supercharger vs turbo, the power is instant, no lag. Hit the gas and it goes. And IMO, it sounds pretty sweet.

Though, the grunt sound of the V8 is sweet too.

Both are very safe cars, engines are pretty much bulletproof, well designed/engineered.

You can't go wrong with either one. You should test drive both and see which you like and get a better feel for them. Either choice, both are awesome cars. Good luck, I HTH's.

Default the pictures are off ebay (not his car)..I can't find my digi cam..

Thank for the info...I am gonna go drive the S4. I don't mind an auto because I travel to chicago a lot for district meetings and I hate shifting in traffic (it's a pain).

Default i'd take a benz over the M3 because of the engine issues and how dealers' put the blame on..

the owners. Some dealers even installed engine monitors to trace owner's driving patterns. This happened to someone I know, he ended up selling his car.
