I am planning to bring my a4 to a mechanic shop to do the repairs for the head gasket. How much will it cost? And if I buy the parts first, what should I need to buy, the Head Gasket alone or the whole Gasket kit/set?

As I noted in another post, 1500 to 2000. I have not done the research on the Audi (maybe some others know), but generally it is a minimum of getting bolts as they are usually one time use bolts. Other than bolts and a gasket, not sure what else is absolutely required except for unrelated items like has the timing belt been replaced. If not, replace it. Cam tensioner? Is it noisy, replace it. Oh, and use OEM parts. No cheap knock offs. Maybe turbo has more input...
