Default Help.Loss of power and rattling noise.

Hello i have an a4 b6 with about 190k on it. This morning driving to work my car jerked then i heard a rattling sound coming from around the driver side of the engine then it stopped and didnt do it the rest of the drive. I have had issues with it starting on first try about a week ago but that problem went away too. Does anyone know if this could be related or what the issue could be? I made and appointment to get my fuel filter replaced to see if that would help with start up.

The fuel filter is not at the top of my list of what makes a car hard to start. The reason is that during startup, there is very little flow of gas through the filter, so unless extremely dirty, the output pressure won't be affected. It is at high fuel flow conditions, such as high RPM and wide open throttle, where filter restriction will be a factor.

A hard-starting engine is often due to an air leak (broken hoses or split rubber intake ducting) or a bad coolant temp sensor.

Agree with Turbo on the hard starting.

Understand the noise is gone, I mean to look for anything missing or loose. Like the belly pan, or a brake heat shield, or any other number of bits that could come off or are loose.
